Didn’t write in a while now, but I promise I’m going to start writing more often
Managed services…this is a very discussed subject nowadays, but I want to share with you my opinions regarding it:
Basically, most customers (not all of them know what to do with a VPS or Dedicated), are willing to buy managed services, just that very often they see that unmanaged ones are cheaper than the managed ones, thinking that they could do their own management by google-ing up tutorials and stuff, which isn’t recommended at all, because there are a lot of other problems. Not to mention that somebody who ‘broke’ his VPS/Dedicated is going to go to support to get it fixed. The problem with this is that the customer loses a lot of time (remember “time is money”?
), and in the end he makes the support team do a lot of work to fix his VPS/Dedicated. All of this for a 2 minute tweak. If he would’ve paid an extra 5$ or something, he would’ve went to support in the first place.
Ross Brouse from Solar VPS write’s about proactive monitoring…check it out
So, if you have a Plesk (Windows) server, and when you try to login to plesk, after the certificate thingy, you get:
get_config_string failed: PRODUCT_DATA_D: Unable to connect to pipe \\.\pipe\psapipe
You need to replace a file, which has some bugs in it, and SWSoft released a new version.
So, here’s how to fix it:
1. Download the update service from: http://download1.swsoft.com/Plesk/Autoupdate/Windows/8.2.0/121592/plesksrv.exe
2. Stop Plesk Management Service
3. Make sure that there isn’t any processes named plesksrv.exe running (you know, Task Manager -> End process)
4. Backup the original file %plesk_bin%\plesksrv.exe
5. Copy downloaded file to %plesk_bin% folder
6. Restart Plesk Management Service
Note: usually %plesk_bin% is C:\Program Files\SWSoft\Plesk\admin\bin\After you do this, it will work properly.
So, a lot of people ask: how to migrate from openVZ to Virtuozzo…well, it’s easy:
just rsync from one node to another /etc/vz/conf/veid.conf to the same path on the virtuozzo node, and also rsync /vz/private/veid/ (from the ovz node) to /vz/private/veid/root/ (to the ovz node), and mkdir /vz/private/veid/cow/ (funny, I know, ask SWSoft about it)
That’s all.
Oh, and you can’t do a live migration, but….c’est la vie.
So, do you need some programmers for your newest project? Think cheap:

So, thought had while drinking some Buds: We should get ISPs to add to every e-mail which goes through their servers the coordinates of the person who sends them.
Next, we write a module for SpamAssassin which will automatically launch a guided missile for every spam it receives, targeting those coordinates from the headers.
So, in one week tops, there wouldn’t be any spammer alive…Isn’t this the best anti-spammers method?
So….Friday night, working night shifts, working on some tickets, and all of the sudden a customer replies to an ticket which I’ve solved & gave that guy some security tips:
I want to hug you
You have given me a very valuable information. I am very grateful to you.
You are the best.
Thanks again for the fast reply and the refreshing answers
I just hope there aren’t any gay customers which would turn the “allmighty” Kayako eSupport into a gay porn site.
